Animal Pak. The synonym of the word “multivitamin” for many years in the bodybuilding community, amateur and professional. August 8, 1983 (!) Animal Pak was born, the first product of Universal’s Nutrition, Animal series. In 1995, he passed a facelift and since then has been on the market with minor changes to its composition. What made it so special? It was not a simple multivitamin. It was a performance multivitamin. In addition to vitamins and minerals it contains electrolytes, digestive enzymes, amino acids, antioxidants and more. Anything can support the hard worker in the gym.
The product has only been in the form of capsules and tablets for years. A few years ago, it came in the form of powder for those who are having trouble swallowing pills.
Animal Pak powder Ingredients
Αs you see, the product has over 100 ingredients. We will briefly refer to them by looking at these:
Vitamins and minerals
In the first leg there could be nothing but vitamins and minerals. Doses of vitamins A, C and E as well as some of the B complex can also be described as “high doses”.
Amino acid mixture
From this point on you understand that you don’t have a typical multivitamin in your hands but something more. Animal Pak contains 19 amino acids to support protein’s synthesis. However, the quantity is not large, so you do not need to measure it in your daily consumption.
Uni-pro blend contains whey protein isolate (WPI), liver, beef protein, eleutherococcus, panax ginseng, hawthorne and citrus bioflavonoids.
Mixture of antioxidants
High-intensity training creates free radicals (this is not always bad). But in Animal Pak they have added one of the most powerful antioxidants, the Q10 coenzyme. The quantities could certainly have been much higher in this mixture.
Digestive enzyme mixture
I will stay in this blend, because I highly believe in the gastrointestinal tract. Nowadays, when we consume a lot of processed foods, we put hard on our stomachs. If the digestion is not done properly, the amounts of macronutrients and micronutrients are not fully absorbed. That’s why Bromelin, Papain and Inulin have been added to Animal Pak.
My honest opinion…
Animal Pak was a super revolutionary product of its time. The addition of antioxidants, liver protectors, digestive enzymes and all these details brought a new impetus to the multivitamins category. Beyond that, however, I dare to say that it has remained stationary and needs some re-formulation (in quantities and especially in some forms of ingredients). But its base remains solid. And something that works on solid footing with proper guidance can go better.
Some of my suggestions for the brand are:
- Increase in vitamin D.
- Better forms of zinc and magnesium
- Better form of chromium
- Increase in the amount of antioxidants
- Removal of carnitine
- Replace Uni-pro blend with full spectrum highest quality Uni-liver blend.
- Addition of vitamin K
